Three Aspect CBD Can Benefit Your Pet

How Can CBD Benefit My Pet?

Our furry friends, like us, have an endocannabinoid system. Dogs, cats and horses may all be able to reap the benefit from CBD, thanks to this system. This means that in theory you could give CBD to your four-legged friend! In this short segment we will be focusing on three aspects that CBD can benefit your pet.

1. CBD is an excellent painkiller

It has often been suggested that CBD can be used for pain, as it has been shown to have an impact on the inflammatory response. There have been studies done on this and CBD has shown to reverse the inflammatory response and therefore reduce symptoms of pain which also includes chronic pain . A study done by Ethan Russo focus exactly on these points. Dogs and cats have bodies that work in an often surprisingly similar to our own, and luckily this is one case where that holds true. CBD may also be able to reduce the pain experienced by our furry friends.

2. CBD reduces anxiety and stress

Just like us, our pets can sometimes experience feelings of anxiety and stress. One of the many examples that I can think of is when you leave your dog or cat at home before leaving for work; many pets may suffer from separation anxiety therefore by reducing the amount of anxiety through the use of CBD your pet will be able to relax while you are away.

3. CBD may be able to reduce other symptoms like nausea and seizures

If your pet suffers from a specific illness and experiences symptoms such as these, CBD may be of use. Animals often experience similar ailments to our own, and since we all have endocannabinoid systems, CBD could be of use for your pet as well as yourself. To this end, CBD oil helps to regulate his overall functionality in much the same way it does in a human brain and body. One of the receptors it activates is known as 5-HT1A, or 5-hydroxytryptamine-1A. This is one of the brain’s serotonin receptors.

When this interaction occurs, it reduces nausea in your body as well as your dog’s. In fact, one industry study concluded that, when this receptor is triggered, it reduced the level of nausea experienced by rats and shrews. If it’s nausea at play, CBD oil can enter his body, find those key receptors and help ease the discomfort he’s feeling.
